Feb 19, 8pm at 14 Pews: Music for Silent Films

VERY excited to be presenting, on February 19 at 14 Pews, 800 Aurora Street, another Houston installment of Music for Silent Films. This series matches contemporary silent films, or films that have soundtracks that we mute, with music improvised on the spot to the images.

For this show, I'll be on laptop and Kaoss pad, joined by Richard Cholokian (drums, electronics) and Seth Paynter (saxophones, EWI, gongs), both members of one of my favorite Houston ensembles, The Core Trio.

And traveling from Monroe, Louisiana by way of Columbus, Ohio, we'll happy to have special guest Stan Smith (guitars) on board to round out the band. Stan is one of my former teachers from my conservatory days, and besides being an incredible musician and composer, is a good friend. Come out and show him some H-Town love.

We'll be performing to films by the incredible Mary Benedicto, a premier by Jonathan Jindra, some of my favorites by Noe Kidder, and a projections performance by Pablo Gimenez-Zapiola. Heavy!

Here's the deets. We would love to see you there.
